DOGWOOD, Ky., (KBSI) — Three people were injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving a car and a semi-truck loaded with corn in the Dogwood community, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 10:37 a.m. to the intersection of KY 1684 and KY 849. An investigation by Deputy Larry Jones determined that David Salin, 42, of Hickory, was driving south on KY 1684 in a red 2007 Ford Focus when he pulled into the path of a 2007 Freightliner semi-truck driven by Marco Ramirez, 30, of Murray.
The semi, which was hauling a full load of corn, overturned onto its left side and spilled its cargo after the collision, authorities said. Salin’s vehicle left the roadway.
Salin was flown to a Nashville-area hospital for treatment of his injuries. Ramirez and his passenger, Anahi Garcia, 21, of Murray, were taken to Mercy Health–Paducah for treatment.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continued to assist with cleanup Sunday afternoon.
Deputy Jones was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Garret Clark, Graves County Emergency Management, Mayfield–Graves County EMS, the Mayfield Fire Department, the Symsonia Fire Department, the Viola/North Graves Fire Department, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Air Evac.
