BackStoppers assisting family of fallen Sikeston Officer Henry Franklin

SIKESTON, Mo. — The BackStoppers organization is now assisting the family of Sikeston Department of Public Safety Officer Henry Franklin, who was killed in the line of duty on Oct. 6, 2025.

Officer Franklin, 41, was fatally shot while responding with the Sikeston DPS Tactical Team to assist in the apprehension of a murder suspect barricaded inside a home.

Franklin had served with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety since 2013. He is survived by his wife, children, and extended family.

“We stand by the family of Officer Henry Franklin, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, and the surrounding communities,” said Lt. Col. Lawrence M. O’Toole, executive director of The BackStoppers. “Officer Henry is a hero, and we will honor his legacy by serving his family today and in the days ahead.”
