Calloway County man arrested on child sexual exploitation charges, Kentucky State Police say

MURRAY, Ky., (KBSI) — A Calloway County man has been arrested on child sexual exploitation charges following an investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch.
According to Kentucky State Police, James Kylen Johnson, 32, was arrested around 10:39 p.m. March 10 as part of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.
Investigators said the Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering a suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.
The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Murray on March 10.
Authorities said equipment believed to have been used in the crimes was seized and taken to the Kentucky State Police forensic laboratory for examination.
Johnson is charged with four counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12 years old, which are Class B felonies punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison.
He was lodged in the Calloway County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
The Kentucky Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force includes more than 26 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The program assists agencies with investigations involving cyber enticement and child sexual abuse material, providing forensic support, training, victim services and community education.
