Boil water order issued for parts of Mt. Vernon

FOX23 News at 9 p.m

MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — A boil water order has been issued for portions of 18th Street and Conger Avenue in Mt. Vernon following maintenance on the water system.

The advisory took effect at 11:20 a.m. March 26 and applies to 800 S. 18th St. and 1708 Conger Ave., according to city officials.

Officials said the order is precautionary, noting there is no confirmed contamination. Changes in water pressure during maintenance can disturb sediment in water lines.

The boil order is expected to remain in place for approximately 48 hours, or until testing confirms the water is safe.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to boil water before use until the order is lifted.
