PSC to host public meetings on nuclear energy across Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky., (KBSI) — The Kentucky Public Service Commission will hold a series of public information meetings across the state to gather input on nuclear energy generation.
The meetings are part of Case No. 2025-00186 and stem from a directive by the Kentucky General Assembly to prepare for potential regulation of nuclear energy facilities.
Officials said the meetings will allow residents, businesses, educators and local leaders to share feedback on nuclear power, including its potential impact on communities, energy costs, the environment and the electric grid.
Scheduled meetings include:
Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. EST at Morehead State University
March 17 at 5 p.m. EST at the University of Louisville
March 25 at 5 p.m. EST at Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington
April 1 at 5 p.m. CST at West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah
April 6 at 5 p.m. EST at Northern Kentucky University
April 8 at 5:30 p.m. CST at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green
PSC Chair Angie Hatton said nuclear energy is gaining attention as a reliable and clean energy source but noted the importance of evaluating costs and community impacts.
