McCracken County Public Schools has named Johnna Hite as assistant director of exceptional children’s programs, effective July 1.

Hite brings more than a decade of experience in education and has served as assistant principal at Heath Elementary School since 2018. In that role, she led Response to Intervention efforts, coordinated professional development, managed testing accommodations and supported instructional practices.

She previously worked as a speech-language pathologist for the district, serving students from preschool through high school.

In her new role, Hite will help oversee programs and services for exceptional children, including special education and psychological services. District officials said she will support administrators and teachers, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and assist in implementing instructional strategies for students with disabilities.

Hite will also assist with professional development, student data analysis and evaluation and placement processes, while working with staff and families to ensure students receive appropriate services.

She holds an education specialist degree from Eastern Kentucky University and both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Murray State University.

Superintendent Josh Hunt said Hite’s experience and commitment to student success will have a positive impact across the district.
