Chances of Showers, Thunderstorms Continue Through Memorial Day
A wet start to our Sunday is on the way for the Heartland with spotty showers and thunderstorms likely by the afternoon. Temperatures will have to fight through heavy cloud cover and showers to reach the upper 70s.
Above is the latest run of StormCast, showing the potential for showers through the overnight hours. Storm coverage becomes more scattered by Sunday afternoon, which will also be our best chance at seeing a few rumbles of thunder.
Temperatures on Saturday night will be seasonal for the viewing area, reaching the lower to middle 60s by Sunday morning.
Mostly cloudy for any late Saturday night plans, though chances for showers and thunderstorms increase for Cape Girardeau after midnight.
Highs on Sunday will be near average, with models more optimistic that we will see the lower 80s. Given the cloud cover and rain chances, the upper 70s may be a safer bet.
A rainy start to the day will give way to partly sunny skies in the afternoon with scattered showers and thunderstorms near Cape.
Near-daily chances of precipitation continue through Memorial Day and into the work week ahead. Most of us could be looking at an inch to two inches of precipitation over the next week, with locally higher amounts possible. Temperatures will range from the upper 70s to the mid-80s.
