2 face charges after meth, drug paraphernalia found during McCracken County traffic stop
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people faces charges after police found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop.
Clinton T. Daugherty, 39, of Southern Komfort, Benton, Ky. faces charges of no registration plates, no insurance, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to notify D.O.T. of address change, and Rockcastle Castle, Ky. District Court bench warrant for failure to appear.
Ashley L. Tharp, 40, of Southern Komfort, Benton, Ky. faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to notify D.O.T. of address change.
Drug Division detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Hummer H3 on John Puryear Drive for registration violations on Thursday, Feb. 24 around 1:10 p.m.
Daugherty was driving and Tharp was a passenger. Daugherty’s operator’s license was suspended and he had an active bench warrant for his arrest out of Rockcastle County, Ky. District Court.
Dep. Steve Croft deployed his K9 partner, Oscar. K9 Oscar alerted on the odor of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle. Detectives found a small quantity of methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
Daugherty and Tharp were arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
