Several runners turn out for inaugural Remembrance Run in Cape Girardeau
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Several runners turned out for the inaugural Remembrance Run in Cape Girardeau on Memorial Day.
The 5K run/walk started at 7 a.m. at the parking lof of Lynwood Baptist Church. Forty-eight runners proceeded up Highway 61 into Cape County Park through the Avenue of Flags, around the lake and back to the church parking lot.
The Remembrance Run 5K benefits both the Avenue of Flags and a local ministry called Tradesmen for the Kingdom. Tradesmen for the Kingdom, or TFTK, started out of a calling to connect youth from underserved areas of our region to the trades after high school.
TFTK and Remembrance Run Founder Michael Keillor is a United States Marine and HVAC installer. Both causes are near to his heart. He loves the flag and loves to see young men and women earn a living in the skilled trades. Keillor plans for this to be an annual event.
A $500 check was presented to Dave Cantrell to go toward the Avenue of the Flags.
