MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies in Mississippi County and other states are taking decisive action to address a growing concern of vehicle thefts and break-ins within the community.

As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents,

The sheriff’s office is launching a public service announcement (PSA) to raise awareness about the issue and encourage proactive measures.

In recent weeks, there has been a “disturbing increase in incidents involving stolen vehicles and theft from vehicles in Mississippi County,”according to a Facebook post by the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office.

Law Enforcement agencies are working to address the problem. They ask for the cooperation and vigilance of every resident to effectively combat this wave of crime.

The sheriff’s office urges all community members to take immediate steps to secure their vehicles and belongings.

Taking steps to lock car doors, close windows, and not leaving valuables in plain sight can reduce the risk of becoming a target for criminals.

The sheriff’s office requests that if anyone notices a vehicle driving around his/her neighborhood that appears suspicious or out of place, particularly if it displays an Illinois license plate or plates from another state, to promptly report it to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office or the local police department.

Timely reports can greatly aid efforts in identifying and apprehending potential perpetrators, according to the sheriff’s office.
