Gov. Beshear orders flags half-staff to honor World War II soldier

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KBSI) – Gov. Andy Beshear ordered all flags to be half-staff from sunrise to sunset at all state buildings on October 1 in honor of the Kentucky World War II soldier whose remains were recently identified.

U.S. Army Pfc. Thomas Franklin “Frank” Brooks of Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, was a member of Company D, 194th Tank Battalion, U.S. Army Forces Far East. He was captured and died December 10, 1942, in a Japanese prisoner of war camp, according to the office of Gov. Beshear.

Brooks will be interred at Hill Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Mammoth Cave at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Additionally, individuals, businesses, organizations, and government agencies are encouraged to join this tribute.
