Undercover drug investigation leads to fentanyl arrest in Mayfield

MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) – An undercover drug investigation over the weekend led to the arrest of a Hopkinsville man in Mayfield.
Dajuan Mitrell Quarles, 30, of Hopkinsville faces charges of trafficking in a 1st degree 2nd offense (fentanyl) and possession of methamphetamine 2nd offense (unrelated traffic offenses).
Graves County Sheriff’s detectives stopped a vehicle on Copeland Road Saturday, October 28 around 11:55 p.m. after receiving information that the suspect was transporting Fentanyl from Hopkinsville to Graves County to sell.
A search of the vehicle turned up dosage units of Fentanyl, a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine and$1,010 in cash, according to Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden.
The suspect admitted to transporting the drugs to Graves County for a delivery, according to Sheriff Hayden.
After he was arrested, Quarles claimed that he had taken one of the fentanyl pills and had to be taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being taken to an out-of-county detention center.
