Cape Girardeau man sentenced to nearly 15 years for fentanyl

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A judge sentenced a Cape Girardeau man to more than 14 years in prison for selling fentanyl.
U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. sentenced Jimmy L. Hudson Jr., 47, to 175 months.
Hudson Jr. pleaded guilty in 2023 to distribution of fentanyl.
He admitted selling fentanyl in April of 2023 to an informant working for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Missouri.
The case was Hudson’s third federal drug-trafficking conviction, according to court documents.
Hudson was on federal supervised release stemming from a 2015 conviction for distributing methamphetamine at the time he sold the fentanyl.
Hudson will again be placed on supervised release after serving the nearly 15-year sentence.
The DEA investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Koester handled the prosecution for the government.
