Paducah man, 3 juveniles face charges after items stolen from vehicles

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah man and three 17 year olds face charges after police say they stole items from unlocked vehicles.

Xavier Hodges, 18, of S. 25th Street faces charges of engaging in organized crime, three counts of unlawful transaction with a minor 2nd degree, six counts of theft of contents from a vehicle and giving an officer false identifying information.

A 17-year-old boy faces charges of engaging in organized crime, six counts of theft under $500, possession of marijuana, reckless driving an disregarding a stop sign.

Another 17-year-old boy faces charges of engaging in organized crime and six counts of theft of contents from a vehicle.

A third 17-year-old boy faces charges of engaging in organized crime, theft of a firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor and six counts of theft of contents from a vehicle.

Paducah police received a large number of calls last week about vehicles that had been broken into throughout the community.

Officers and detectives began investigating and determined that a group of people working with each other were responsible for the thefts.

Around 5 a.m. on July 18, Paducah police officers saw a vehicle leaving at a high rate of speed from an apartment complex on County Park Road that had been targeted in the past.

Officers determined that the people in the vehicle had been at the apartment complex going through unlocked vehicles.

Later that day, officers and detectives determined that the people were involved in the previous thefts from vehicles.

The juveniles were charged and taken to the McCracken Juvenile Detention Facility.

Hodges was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Jail.

Deputies say that in one of the thefts, a juvenile had stolen a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing. More charges and suspects are expected.
