Four injured in Carbondale traffic crash; driver cited for red-light violation

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Four people sustained minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening at the intersection of East Main Street and North Giant City Road, according to the Carbondale Police Department.

Police and Fire Department officers responded to the scene at 6:35 p.m. on Nov. 11 after a vehicle reportedly turned left on a red light and was struck by another vehicle traveling east on East Main Street.

The drivers of both vehicles and two passengers were treated for minor injuries. The at-fault driver was cited for disobeying a traffic control device. Several traffic lanes were temporarily blocked during the investigation, and a civic alert was issued asking motorists to avoid the area until the roadway reopened.
