WICKLIFFE, Ky., (KBSI) — A Shively man was arrested following a multi-county pursuit Sunday night that spanned Ballard, McCracken and Marshall counties, according to Kentucky State Police.
Trooper Max Dikin with KSP Post 1 attempted a traffic stop shortly after 9 p.m. March 8 on North Fourth Street in Wickliffe after observing a 2012 Lincoln MKZ with an equipment violation. Police said the driver failed to stop and fled eastbound on Kentucky 286 at a high rate of speed.
The pursuit continued through Ballard County and into McCracken County along U.S. 62. Authorities attempted to deploy a tire deflation device but were initially unsuccessful. A second attempt near Interstate 24 deflated two tires on the vehicle.
The pursuit continued onto Interstate 24 into Marshall County, where Calvert City police deployed another tire deflation device, disabling the remaining tires. Troopers said the vehicle continued before Trooper Connor Dunigan performed a maneuver that forced it off the roadway and onto an embankment.
The driver, identified as Damon L. Crawford, 23, of Shively, was taken into custody without further incident.
Crawford faces charges in Ballard and Marshall counties, including first-degree fleeing or evading police, along with speeding, reckless driving and other traffic-related offenses. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
Kentucky State Police were assisted by the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and the Calvert City Police Department.
