Crash blocks northbound I-57 in Franklin County; no injuries reported

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — A crash involving a tractor-trailer has shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 57, according to the Benton Fire Department.

Crews responded to the single-vehicle crash and worked to contain leaking materials to prevent them from entering nearby waterways.

Officials said all northbound lanes of I-57 are blocked, with traffic being rerouted onto Illinois Route 37 between mile markers 71 and 77.

No injuries were reported. The closure is expected to continue into daylight hours as crews clear the scene.
