CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Nancy Hunter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will plant a Liberty Tree at Capaha Park during a ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday.

The tree will be planted near Freedom Corner, where the Statue of Liberty stands.

Organizers said Liberty Trees were historic gathering places for American patriots during the years leading up to the American Revolution, serving as symbols of resistance and unity.

Officials said the planting is intended to honor the service and sacrifice of early American patriots and serve as a lasting reminder of the nation’s founding principles.
