Gibson Center for Behavioral Change to hold groundbreaking for new campus expansion

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Leaders for the Gibson Center for Behavioral Change will hold a groundbreaking Monday afternoon for a new campus expansion that will consolidate nine existing offices into one central location.

The groundbreaking will take place at 3 p.m. at the construction site at 1112 Linden Street in Cape Girardeau.

This milestone marks a pivotal moment in the organization’s history as they continue to expand their mission of providing top-quality care and support to people on their journey to recovery.

The property was originally purchased in 1989 with plans of future expansion. The center is now set to accommodate between 80 to 100 employees.

The consolidation will improve efficiency and create a more collaborative and supportive environment for staff to work together effectively in pursuit of their common goal: helping others find hope, strength and to evolve.

“It’s truly amazing to see our plan come to life as we unite all our behavioral health facilities in Cape Girardeau on one campus,” said CEO John Gary. “We’re making it easier for individuals to access the support they deserve, and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of this transformative journey.”

The Gibson Center for Behavioral Change provides a wide range of services including residential treatment, outpatient care, detoxification, and more services, to address the unique needs of each person seeking assistance.

The cost of constructing the 17,700 square foot expansion will be $4.6 million. Bank of Missouri will be the banking partner for the construction. The design and construction team for the new expansion includes Robinson Contracting, Amee Boettcher, Koehler Engineering, and Sandin Engineering.

“We are thrilled to break ground on our new office facility, a project that has been in the making for over three decades,” said Ryan Essex, COO. “This marks a significant step forward in our mission to provide comprehensive recovery services to those in need, all from one campus.”

The Gibson Center for Behavioral Change helps people start the journey toward recovery by treating the whole person, not only substance use disorders.
