PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Officers with the Paducah Police Department visited Paducah Tilghman High School to speak with students about the dangers of impaired driving ahead of prom weekend.
School Resource Officer Eric Abbot, Officer Seth Farthing and Sgt. Jason Hicks led the program, which included hands-on activities designed to demonstrate the effects of intoxication.
Students used “fatal vision” goggles that simulate impairment while attempting tasks such as throwing darts, navigating an obstacle course and completing field sobriety tests. Officers said the exercises helped illustrate how quickly coordination and judgment can be affected.
Officials said the goal of the program is to encourage safe decision-making and ensure students return home safely.
