Kentucky women arrested after doing a donut in a stolen truck during a traffic stop

BENTON, Ky. (KBSI) – On September 19, around 9:07 p.m., a Benton police officer was traveling south on Main Street near Priceless IGA when a pickup truck passed the officer on a double yellow line, then drifted over the fog line.

According to the Benton Police Department the officer immediately initiated a traffic stop in which the vehicle then pulled into Priceless IGA.

The vehicle then accelerated and attempted to do a donut in the parking lot.

The driver was identified as 42-year-old Melissa Martin of Barlow, Kentucky.

Upon checking the license plate, Dispatch reported that the vehicle was stolen out of Carlisle County.

There was also a stolen firearm located inside the vehicle.

Martin was arrested and charged with reckless driving, possession of open alcohol beverage in a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property $1,000 < $10,000, possession of handgun by convicted felon, and improper passing.
