Carbondale awarded $46,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Carbondale has been selected to receive a $46,000 Hometown Grant from T-Mobile.

Carbondale is one of only 25 communities nationwide and one of two in Illinois to receive the award.

The grant will be used to enhance the Downtown-Campus Connector, a pedestrian and bike-friendly link between Southern Illinois University and downtown Carbondale.

The city will install decorative wayfinding signage and alleyway lighting to improve safety and connectivity.

A celebratory announcement and check presentation will be held Wednesday at the Town Square Pavilion.

T-Mobile’s Hometown Grants program aims to support community development projects in small towns and rural areas.
