John A. Logan College breaks ground on $14.1 million career center

CARTERVILLE, Ill., (KBSI) — John A. Logan College marked a major milestone Monday with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new $14.1 million Career and Technical Education Center.

The state-of-the-art facility will house the college’s welding, HVAC, and automotive programs, bolstering the region’s workforce development and technical training capacity.

College officials, local leaders, and community members attended the ceremony, demonstrating the community’s strong support for the project.

The center is expected to provide students with hands-on training in high-demand industries, addressing the workforce needs of local employers.

The project is being funded in part by a $4.2 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, with matching funds committed by the college.

Construction will begin immediately, with completion expected by December 2026.
