McCracken County deputies respond to disturbance, seize evidence

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call on Heath Street in the Reidland area on Aug. 4, 2025.

Callers reported a disorderly male attempting to enter vehicles and residences. The male, identified as Jeremy Balkey, 33, appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.

When deputies arrived, Balkey allegedly became combative, attempting to disarm a deputy and fighting with officers. Two citizens assisted deputies in subduing Balkey.

During the altercation, two citizens and two deputies received minor injuries. One deputy was treated at a local hospital and released.

A search warrant was executed at Balkey’s residence, yielding a large quantity of illegal drugs, including THC electronic cigarettes, Psilocybin chocolate edibles, marijuana wax, and Psilocybin mushrooms.

Balkey was charged with multiple offenses, including public intoxication, disarming a peace officer, assault, resisting arrest, and trafficking in controlled substances. He was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
