For Kids’ Sake International Superhero 5K Run/Walk returns to Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The 13th For Kids’ Sake International Superhero 5K Run/Walk will take place on September 20 at Turley Park in Carbondale.

This popular event benefits children in Southern Illinois, Bangladesh, and The Gambia. Participants can register individually or assemble teams, dress as their favorite superheroes, and compete for prizes while fundraising for children in need.

Registration is open at Superhero 5K | forkidssakeinternational. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation options. In-person racers will run a certified 5K route with chip timing, while virtual participants can complete their 5K anywhere and upload their results to the official website.

The event will feature vendors, a live DJ, and an award ceremony with prizes for top runners, fundraisers, and best superhero costumes.

Participants who raise $350 or more will receive a free Carhartt backpack. Registration fees are $25 for adults and $15 for kids 17 and under. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrants by September 4.
