ILLINOIS(KBSI) – Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced today a new initiative aimed at streamlining the college admission process for high school seniors.

“Good news is that current seniors can apply. The process looks differently just this year for seniors and juniors, Current seniors. So, class of 2006. All they need to do is create a common app account and profile, enter their GPA and, basic biographical information” says Garcia.

The program aims to increase college enrollment rates by reducing application anxiety and financial hurdles of application cost. Every public college in the state of Illinois will be added to the program according to Garcia.

Well, we hope to see that more and more students know that college is a possibility for them” says Garcia.  “We know that, you know, especially for first-generation college students, the process can be daunting. It can be very unfamiliar. And through this program, we hope that, that they see that college is for them and that they have a spot, at an Illinois public institution, whether it be a, at one of the state universities or at a community college.
