Construction continues on Old West Main, North Marion streets in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Construction is ongoing this week along the Old West Main Street and North Marion Street corridors as part of Carbondale’s efforts to upgrade infrastructure and improve accessibility, city officials said.

The work, scheduled through Aug. 29, may cause temporary changes to traffic flow and parking availability in the area. Signage and traffic control measures are in place to guide motorists and pedestrians safely around construction zones.

City officials urged residents and visitors to use caution when traveling in the area and to continue supporting local businesses during the project.

“These enhancements are part of our commitment to creating a vibrant, welcoming and accessible community space for all,” the city said in a statement.
