Highway Patrol reports three Thanksgiving holiday traffic fatalities

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported three traffic fatalities during the 2025 Thanksgiving holiday counting period, which ran from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30. The agency reported no drownings, boating crashes or boating-related arrests during the period.
According to preliminary data, troopers recorded the following statewide statistics for 2025:
- 304 traffic crashes
- 82 injuries
- 3 fatalities
- 87 DWI arrests
During the 2024 counting period, the Patrol investigated 462 traffic crashes, which included six fatalities and 158 injuries. Statewide, 11 people died and 571 were injured in 1,664 crashes during last year’s holiday period. Troopers arrested 106 individuals for driving while intoxicated in 2024.

No traffic fatalities occurred.
November 27, 2025
Two fatalities were reported:
A 40-year-old Branson woman was killed when her northbound vehicle traveled off the right side of Missouri 135 at Lang Road in Cooper County, struck an embankment, became airborne and overturned. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. She was pronounced dead at University Hospital in Columbia.
A 44-year-old Union woman died after her northbound vehicle skidded on Interstate 29 near Watson in Atchison County, overturned in the median and came to rest in the southbound lanes. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. She was pronounced deceased by the Atchison County Coroner. The Atchison County Sheriff’s Office, Rock Port Fire Department and Atchison-Holt Ambulance District assisted.
November 28, 2025
One fatality occurred:
An 11-year-old O’Fallon girl died after the northbound vehicle she was riding in on Missouri 79 failed to yield while turning left onto Missouri Route M and was struck by a southbound vehicle. The juvenile, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at SSM Health St. Joseph West in Lake St. Louis.
The 57-year-old southbound driver sustained minor injuries and was not wearing a seat belt. The 40-year-old northbound driver suffered serious injuries and was wearing a seat belt. O’Fallon Police and the St. Charles County Police Department assisted at the scene.
November 29–30, 2025
No traffic fatalities occurred on either day.
The Patrol reported zero boating crashes, zero boating fatalities, zero drownings and zero boating-while-intoxicated arrests during the holiday period.
The Patrol noted that all statistics are preliminary and may change if additional crash reports or late deaths are recorded.
