Several injured in Carbondale crash at East Walnut and Cedarview

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Several people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of East Walnut Street and South Cedarview Street, according to the Carbondale Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 4:05 p.m. Feb. 12. Investigators determined that a passenger vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way to another vehicle.

Multiple passengers were transported to a local emergency room with serious injuries. The driver of one vehicle was cited for failure to yield, police said.

A Civic Alert was issued asking motorists to avoid the area during the investigation. Traffic was rerouted at East Walnut Street and South Wall Street. The roadway reopened to traffic at approximately 4:40 p.m.

The Jackson County Ambulance Service and the Carbondale Fire Department assisted at the scene.
